Good evening Forest Lakes families! This is your Principal, Holly Huey, calling with the weekly updates.

We had another great week of learning this week on campus! Our first cycle of testing has begun. Our second graders wrapped up their ELA testing this week, and all third through fifth graders will be taking their PM1 ELA assessment next week. Teachers will share their exact testing days through emails or newsletters. You will receive parent reports with scores once testing is wrapped up.

Parent lunches began this week and will continue on Fridays throughout the school year. To participate in parent lunches please be sure to arrive 5 minutes before your child’s scheduled lunch time and sign in with your ID at the front office. All seating for parent lunches is outdoors in our courtyard. Arriving early will ensure you can collect your child as their class walks by to the cafeteria as no parents are allowed inside the cafeteria. Please make sure the volume in the courtyard is at a respectful level as classes are in session all around campus and that students are not running around the courtyard for safety.

Just a reminder, you may only pull your child from the class to have lunch in courtyard. The PTO purchased some lawn games for parents to engage with their child and other families on the first Friday of the month, this is just another way they support our school. Many families got to enjoy these during lunch today, we are so grateful for PTOs support!

In addition to parent lunches next week, we also have a special breakfast event hosted by our PTO - Donuts with Grown-Ups this Friday, September 13. Students are encouraged to ask a special adult in their life to join them before school for donuts, juice, and coffee for the adults.  

We have shifted the event to 7:40-8:10, due to new safety laws we must follow. All families will need to exit the campus prior to us opening the gates for students at 8:15, so we will wrap up our time at 8:10 to assure we can get everyone out by that time. The front gate will be the only point of entry for parents. Please make sure you are parking in a parking spot. You cannot park in the car or bus loops during this event. If you park on Pine Ave., please walk up by the crossing guard and not up the car or bus loop.

Our first PTO General Meeting and School Advisory Council meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 17^th in our Media Center. Please join us to meet our new PTO Board and learn about all the great ways they are supporting our school and the plans for the year ahead. Following the PTO meeting, I will host our School Advisory Council meeting where you can join me in reviewing and approving our School Improvement Plan and learn about all the ways we are working to enhance your child’s educational experience. This council is an opportunity to have your voice heard about ways we can improve our school! PTO will meet starting at 5:00 and the S.A.C. meeting will follow at 5:30.
