This season the flag football team has had their challenges. “It hasn’t gone as expected,” coach Justin Bending said. As of April 11, the junior varsity team had a 4-1 record and varsity had a 1-4 record. “This season isn’t great compared to the record varsity had last year. However, the team is trying to improve plays and fix our issues with the quarterback position,” senior Sarah Gray said. Even with the new strategies the team struggles during games. “When it comes down to game time, something crumbles and they start beating themselves up about it,” Bending said. Despite the difficulties, Bending said there are a few standout players. On varsity he named seniors Gray and Kaylee Polk and for junior varsity, freshman Kyre’a Calloway and sophomore Elizabeth Wright. “They always give me 110 percent and they’re always trying their best and try and look past their mistakes,” Bending said.
