Grade Level Standards: Parent Guides

Please take the time to read the Parent Guide explaining the grade level standards for your child(ren).

The guide will provide an overview of what your child is expected to know and do as a learner this school year.

In our classroom we refer to the standards as “I can” statements. For example in a first grade classroom the teacher will post and say, “I can retell stories, including characters, setting and sequence.” In fifth grade math an “I can” statement is, “I understand the concept of volume, and solving word problems that involve volume.”

You can ask your child(ren) about their “I can” statements.

In addition, the guide provides questions to ask during a parent/teacher conference, a suggested book list and ways to help your child at home.
