The Pinellas County School District has been extremely fortunate to have the US Coast Guard as one of our volunteer partners. Currently we have over 40 US Coast Guard personnel who are volunteering in a variety of capacities, most significantly they’re mentoring many children in our schools. With the current Government Shut Down, the US Coast Guard is the only branch of our armed services that is not getting paid. They can most certainly use our support.
Ozona Elementary's Student Council is going to join with our District office in preparing care packages for our local US Coast Guard bases. They had already planned to do a toiletry drive, and have decided to put the focus this time to helping the Coast Guard. If you would like to help with this cause, we will be collecting gift cards, non-perishable items, toiletries and baby toiletries. You may bring them to the front office or send them in with your student. We will be collecting these items until Friday, February 1st.
