Teaching interns gain insight into the profession and the district

About 65 teaching interns spent the day at the district’s Administration Building this week to learn ways to strengthen themselves as new teachers and how they can start a teaching career with Pinellas County Schools. The interns are in their final semester at various education colleges throughout Florida. They are currently student-teaching in a district school will graduate from college in the spring.
The interns heard from a variety of speakers to include Superintendent Michael Grego, Associate Superintendent of Human Resources Paula Texel and members from the Professional Development Department. District content area and human resources specialists spoke to the group about a future career with Pinellas County Schools. Motivational speaker Brandi Winans, a panel of first-year teachers and the district’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) coordinator also addressed the group. The district’s Talent Acquisition Team hosted the orientation.
