Five students were recognized Thursday for graduating from the Elite Educator Program with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a certification in Elementary Education K-6. They also earned an ESOL and reading endorsement.
The graduates are Noelle Davis, Spyridon Doukas, Emily Sharer, Ashley Sills and Ashley Schultz.
Superintendent Michael Grego told the graduates that they are "going into the greatest profession that exist.”
“I look forward to watching you grow, succeed and blossom in our profession,” Grego said.
The Elite Educator Program is a partnership between Pinellas County Schools and St. Petersburg College that prepares students to teach grades K-6 while receiving ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Reading endorsements. The program lets new teachers hit the ground running by tailoring general education classes to equip them to teach a variety of subjects.
Once the program is completed, graduates receive a paid internship in a Pinellas County Schools classroom. Once the internship completed, a graduate of the program receives a teaching job with Pinellas County Schools.
