2025-26 CELL PHONE POLICY

To improve scholar engagement in the classroom and in turn increase academic growth with less classroom and campus disruptions, each scholar will be issued a magnetic pouch for their personal device. The pouch will remain locked and can only be opened by a staff member. Scholars will not have access to their device unless the bag is unlocked by a staff member. Scholars will not take the pouch off campus as it must be returned daily.

Device Storage: Each scholar will have a magnetic pouch in which they will place their cell phone. The pouch can only be opened by staff members at the end of school day.  Extra unlocking keys will be stationed with 1 grade-level teacher in each hallway.

Communication Protocol: If any scholar needs to speak to a parent or guardian (at any grade level), they may use the office phone. If any parent needs to speak to their child, they may send a message to their scholar by communicating with the main school office (727-298-1616).

Campus-Wide Device Ban: There will be no cell phone or personal device use allowed on campus during the school day.  Scholars will complete the phone storage upon entering campus and return the bag as they leave campus.

Violations: If a scholar violates the policy, they will be required to turn the device into the front office for pickup by a parent or guardian.  Scholars will also then have to turn in their cell phone to the front office daily before entering campus. If a scholar damages the pouch trying to retrieve their device, they will be required to pay for a replacement as well as turn the device into the front office daily.
