The Performing Arts Cadre

The Performing Arts Cadre

Performing Arts teachers who are new to Pinellas county are personally welcomed into the district immediately after they are hired by a staff member from the Performing Arts Office. Shortly thereafter, the new teacher is introduced to their official mentor who is an expert in the same content area as the new teacher.  Both the new teacher and the mentor become members of the Performing Arts Cadre.  The Cadre provides opportunities for new and experienced teachers to collaborate easily and on a regular basis.  Mentors are available to their assigned teaching partner at a moment’s notice by email, cell, or text to assist with any issues that may arise during the crucial first year of teaching in a new district, and in many cases the first year of teaching anywhere!

Professional Learning Community (PLC) sessions for Cadre members are scheduled three times a year to allow all members of the Cadre to collaborate, discuss, and build camaraderie with their colleagues.  The second PLC occurs on the Wednesday morning pre-conference day before the Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA) conference begins.  During this time, all members of the Cadre can collaborate on training sessions that will be offered, that will best meet the specific needs of the new teachers.

The final Cadre PLC is a celebration of success and is held near the end of the year.  This final session is an opportunity for Cadre members to share their experiences throughout the year, and to celebrate their growth as educators.
