Pinellas County Schools has been named as one of the Best Communities for Music Education in the nation!
PCS again earns national recognition for outstanding music education
April 20, 2023
The NAMM Foundation has named Pinellas County Schools one of the 2023 Best Communities for Music Education. This is the fourth year in a row that Pinellas has received this honor. The designation is awarded to districts that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to providing music access and education for all students.
The award recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education. The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit that advances active participation in music.
Since 2004, the local community has supported the Pinellas County Schools Referendum, which provides equitable funding for art and music programs throughout the school district.
Thanks to the Referendum, all schools receive funds for music, theater and dance equipment, technology, sound systems, uniforms and materials that support award-winning performing arts programs. Teachers and students have opportunities to work with nationally recognized conductors and artists. The Referendum also supports partnerships with professional arts organizations, which bring performing artists into schools, and provide field trips and performance opportunities for students each year.
