Calista Zebley Conducts 2020 All-State Middle School Honor Band

Calista Zebley, a native of Tampa, Florida, attended schools K-12th grade in the Hillsborough County School system and graduated from King High School. Mrs. Zebley attended both Hillsborough Community College and the University of Tampa. When transferring to Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida Calista was active in all the instrumental ensembles including the world renowned Marching Chiefs, performing on both flute and oboe. On completion of her Bachelor’s in Music Education degree from FSU, Mrs. Zebley began her teaching career in Pinellas County, in St. Petersburg, at Azalea Middle School in 1990. At the end of her first year of teaching, she was awarded the Sallie Mae First Year Outstanding Teaching Award.

Mrs. Zebley is currently the director of bands and choral music at Clearwater Fundamental Middle School, where all of her music ensembles have been rated superior over the years. Clearwater Fundamental has earned the FMEA Middle School - High Enrollment Award, every time it is up for nomination and renewal.

Mrs. Zebley has served as the Florida Bandmasters Association District IX secretary and chairperson. She has been the Pinellas All County Band Middle School Coordinator and has served on many Pinellas County District committees for curriculum writing, mentoring, highest student achievement, and has presented at many district wide professional development workshops. As well as district presentations, she has also presented at the FBA State Summer Conference. Calista has served as an all-county conductor and clinician in numerous districts throughout the state of Florida, as well as a guest conductor at music festivals held at the University of Georgia. Furthermore, she was the Pinellas County Music Educator of the Year for 2017-2018.
