At the special Pinellas County Schools School Board workshop on Tuesday, March 20, Superintendent Dr. John A. Stewart will be presenting his recommendations to the board members for a district realignment based on the FADSS Organization and Management Study.

To reiterate the process for this realignment, here are the steps Dr. Stewart and board members agreed to follow as a team:

“It is recommended that the Superintendent will review the contents of this report; review the recommendations with the Executive Staff and Cabinet; workshop the report with the School Board; select those findings and recommendations with which he is in agreement and wishes to support; and submit an implementation plan for bringing about systems improvement to the School Board for approval.” FADSS Organization and Management Study, Page 10.

Dr. Stewart has completed four of the five steps named above, including selecting those findings and recommendations with which he is in agreement and wishes to support. His decisions, with which the Executive Staff and Cabinet agree, are reflected in the five electronic files posted on the district's website as supporting documents for the workshop:
  • Recommendations pertaining to district leadership and decision-making, the School Board, the Office of General Counsel, and Communications (pages 11-21 and 33-39 of the original FADSS report)
  • Recommendations pertaining to Teaching and Learning Services (pages 22-32 of the original FADSS report)
  • Recommendations pertaining to Finance and Business Services (pages 40-44 of the original FADSS report)
  • Recommendations pertaining to Operational Services (top of Page 45 and pages 51-77 of the original FADSS report)
  • Recommendations pertaining to Technology and Information Services (pages 45-51 of the original FADSS report)
At Tuesday’s workshop, board members will receive an implementation plan and a timeline prepared by Dr. Ronald Ciranna and his team which will complete the sixth and final step outlined by the FADSS group.

The five supporting documents are copies of the original report with strikethroughs, underlines and highlights. Any recommendation not struck through is one with which Dr. Stewart agrees. Recommendations Dr. Stewart does not agree with have been struck through. Additional recommendations are underlined. Additional comments appear in italics. Any changes, whether they be strikethroughs, underlines or comments, have been highlighted so that readers can more easily see alterations of the original report.
