Hello Panther Families,
Welcome to a new school year. We are excited to see all our returning students along with our new friends. We have had a few changes over the summer, but we are ready and excited for a new year. Our meet the teacher event will be Tuesday, Aug. 13th, from 2:00pm-3:00pm. This is a great opportunity for you to meet your child’s teacher and see where they will be learning this school year.
Please keep in mind that the hours for all elementary schools in our district changed this year. The new hours are 8:45-2:55. The start time is the same but the students are in class for 10 more minutes. Please remember that students should not be dropped off prior to 8:15am. Students left early will require a parent to come back and pick them until adult supervision begins at 8:15am. With the time change and some safety concerns, we are also implementing a new rule. Unless you have an emergency, you will not be able to pick up your children or call in altering their dismissal plans after 2:30pm. We have 500+ students. We cannot guarantee that your child will get the message between 2:30-2:55. We also cannot disrupt other student learning by calling into the classrooms numerous times. Education is important to us. We can do some other fun activities that other school have stopped because we maximize student learning during the school day.
One last reminder, remember the car circle starts off congested and frustrating but gets better within 10 days. It is vital for you to remain patient and follow the directions of our BPE staff members. No cars should be attempting to pull into our bus circle during drop off and pick up times for students. Our staff will ask you to turn around. ALL cars need to stay in the car line. All drivers and passengers must stay in their car. Kindergarten parents please stay in your car and in line driving around the Kindergarten car circle. Teachers are out there with them until they are picked up. Please be patient. If you would like to park in a parking space and walk to meet your child, you may do that as well. Children are NOT allowed to walk across our car circle crosswalk without you. Please see the file on our school website for our traffic maps for the morning and afternoon.
Class lists will not be posted on the windows this year for security purposes. To access the information, go to Parent Portal on August 12th and it should be there. Please remember, class lists are temporary until the 10th day of school. A hard copy of you who your child’s teacher will be provided during our Meet the Teacher event as well.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year at Bay Point Elementary. Please follow us on Facebook.
Sincerely, Sara Broom,
