Summer is upon us – and with that comes what some call the “summer slide” in students’ academic skills while school is out. There are things that you as a parent can do to take charge and make learning a priority during the long hot days of summer. Experts agree that children who continue learning during the summer gain reading, math, science and social study skills that will prepare them for the new school year. Students received a summer calendar from their teacher before school closed for summer. Each calendar is filled with activities for each day of the week (excluding weekends) to keep students focused on the core content areas.
