Woodlawn Elementary

Home of the Dolphins

Principal's Message

As we move into May, we are beginning to look at ending our school year. Registration for Summer Bridge, our academic program open to all Woodlawn students, is underway. Even though we will not be hosting the summer sessions, you will be able to choose from among several schools near you. Register your children today!

On May 1st, we will hold our Spring Carnival. This is always a popular evening for our school. There will be lots of fun things to do. Tickets will be on sale in advance and the evening of the carnival. May 1st will also be the last Friday for students to take iPads home. We will be collecting them, checking their condition, and getting them ready for an early start next year. Meanwhile, our fifth grade is going to pilot the use of some newer tablets. They will be running Windows 8.1, so we will see how useful and how user friendly they are going to be for students.

The following Friday, May 8 is our annual Field Day. Sponsored by our PE department, this is always a fun day for our students. PTA will be pitching in, so see how you can give them a hand.

May 13th will be our Spring Concert. Ms. Wilson, our music teacher, is busy preparing grades K-3 for this fun event. We hope to have lots of families support our student performers.

June 1st will be our final CHAMPS ceremony and awards will be given for honor roll, attendance, etc. for grades 1-4. Grade 5 will celebrate at their traditional Moving Up ceremony during the morning of June 2nd.

Sincerely,
Ms. Keiper

                                                                     ESE Survey

Take the Exceptional Student Education Annual Parent Survey
The annual Exceptional Student Education parent survey conducted by the Florida Department of Education is underway through Sunday, May 31. The survey gives parents of students receiving special education services the opportunity to provide feedback on their school involvement and provide comments on their child’s school. This type of parent input is critical in determining if the district will meet the requirements for the state’s Annual Performance Report. The parent survey is available online at www.esesurvey.com or www.pcsb.org/ese. To request a hard copy of the survey, contact Marty Massimo, FDLRS Parent Service Specialist at massimom@pcsb.org or 793-2723 x2043.

                          HATS OFF!!
        TO OUR BUSINESS PARTNERS....

The saying "it takes a village to raise a child" is really true here at Woodlawn. We could not be nearly as positive and effective without our many business partners. We appreciate all of their support, and contributions, large or small. We continue to get the support of an ever greater community base and wish to thank these businesses for their contributions for both our students and our teachers. If you notice that these particular contributions look more teacher-oriented, that is because Teacher Appreciation Week is coming in May!  One of our community-involvement staff members has been working to make that week a special one for teachers
