Pinellas County Schools Approved Budget

  • District Approved Budget

For the 2024–2025 fiscal year, the School Board approved a total property tax rate of 5.822 mills, which amounts to approximately $5.82 for every $1,000 of assessed property value. This rate is lower than the rate levied for the 2023–2024 fiscal year and includes the local referendum, a one-half mill tax that Pinellas County voters overwhelmingly renewed in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020. In November 2024, voters once again renewed the referendum and approved an increase from one-half mill to one full mill, which will be reflected in the tentative budget for the 2025–2026 fiscal year. General Operating Fund

The General Operating Fund represents a vital portion of the district’s budget, accounting for approximately 62% of total funding. This fund supports the day-to-day operations of the school district, including instructional services, school administration, transportation, and maintenance.

The primary revenue source for the $1 billion operating budget is the Florida Education Finance Program (FEFP). FEFP funding is derived largely from state sales tax revenues and local property taxes, ensuring a shared investment in public education across Florida.

    Capital Projects

Capital Outlay funds are designated for major construction, renovations, remodeling projects, and select large-scale equipment purchases. For the 2025-26 school year, the district has estimated $30 million in capital funding to support ensuring our facilities continue to meet the evolving needs of students and staff.
