    The prekindergarten programs application period starts early this year.

    The application period for PreK for 3-year-olds or VPK for 4-year-olds for next school year opens in late November. Parents will be able to apply for prekindergarten programs for the 2023-2024 school year from Nov. 28-Dec. 16.

    Pinellas County Schools offers several early childhood education opportunities to prepare students for kindergarten and beyond. Using the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards, all programs offer developmentally appropriate activities that build on children’s emerging talents and strengths. The majority of these programs follow the regular school calendar.

    Prekindergarten 3 (PreK 3)

    Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK)

    • Follows the regular school year calendar

    Prekindergarten Exceptional Student Education (ESE)

    Community Preschool

    • community preschool Serves children who have reached the age of 3
    • Follows the regular school year calendar with some modifications by location.
