Good Evening Eagle Families,
On behalf of all the teachers and staff at East Lake, we would like to welcome your, your families and most important your student, East Lake High School!
Opening Day: Students will arrive to school and go directly to their homerooms. We will have plenty of adults around the school to help direct students to their homerooms. Posters are located around the school with homeroom locations, and it is available by visiting https://www.pcsb.org/cms/lib/FL01903687/Centricity/Domain/110/revisedhomerooms2022.pdf. Students will receive valuable information to bring home during homeroom. If you were unable to complete the online forms, hard copies will be given to your students. Just have them ask their homeroom teacher for one. Please review all the information and return any paper signed forms to first period teachers by August 19.
Also a reminder, the schedule you see for your student in Focus today may differ by Wednesday morning, so it is important for your student to pick up their schedule in the morning. If your student does not have a first period class, they may pick up their information from Mrs. Ramos in student services.
The bell schedule can be found on our website
Here is a map of our campus to help you locate our drop off and pick up circle, along with other buildings on campus https://www.pcsb.org/cms/lib/FL01903687/Centricity/Domain/110/EastLakeBuildingMap.jpg
If you drop your student off in the morning, please expect delays the first week or so. The car line is longest between 7:10 and 7:25. Even though it is long, it does move quickly. Please pull up as far as possible in the car circle so we may keep the cars moving! Please only drop off your student in the student drop off along the sidewalk. Do not drop your student off in the student or teacher parking lots as it is unsafe and remember to pull all the way up to the orange cone in the car line in the morning and always pull up behind the car in front of you. This will drastically decrease the time spent in the car line and help get our students to class on time.
Also, please follow the directions of the staff directing traffic. Please do not drop your student off in the middle of the street, in one of our neighboring communities (such as Northfield) or in either the student or teacher parking lots. We want to be good neighbors to our surrounding communities and more importantly, keep our students safe.
If you are a bus rider, please be at your stop at least ten minutes before your scheduled pick-up time. Be patient as the first few weeks buses are adjusting exact pick up times. We are expecting some delays the first weeks of school as new drivers continue to train and are added to routes. If you have not already, sign up for Bus Bulletin by visiting https://app.busbulletin.com/register.php. These updates are the same updates we receive at the school when bus routes are delayed for one reason or another.
I mentioned at new student orientation last night, we are down several cafeteria workers temporarily and the lines will be long. Every student will have the opportunity to have lunch no matter what. If your student typically brings a lunch to school and does not purchase lunch, they are not required to go to the cafeteria and they may sit anywhere on the campus. We have a number of picnic tables and benches throughout the campus.
As a reminder breakfast will continue to remain free for students, but the cost of a healthy lunch is now $2.75. You may add money to your student’s account by visiting https://www.myschoolbucks.com. If you have not already completed the application for free/reduced lunch you may visit https://www.myschoolapps.com/ to do so.
Locks/lockers are still available for $5.00. There are a number of lockers available throughout the campus if your student chooses to use one.
I want to let everyone know, our annual Back to School night is being changed from August 23, to August 30. The district inadvertently scheduled it on primary election night. The evening will begin at 6:00pm with details soon to follow!
Lastly, I wanted to remind you of the school counselors for this year.
