74th Street Elementary Dress Code Policy
SHIRTS: Polo shirts or T-shirts must be a solid color with short or long sleeves. No logo is permitted on the polo or T-shirt.
SHORTS: Shorts must be at least fingertip length or longer in solid black, navy or khaki. Shorts must be worn at waist (as per state statute). Shorts may be Bermuda shorts, walking shorts or cargo. No logos, rips, patches, insignia are permitted on shorts. Athletic shorts are not permitted.
PANTS / CAPRIS: Pants must be a cotton, khaki-style that are solid navy, black or khaki in color (no logos, holes, rips, tear, patches or insignia of any kind). Jeggings, leggings, joggers, athletic and sweatpants of any kind, elastic waist, or drawstring pants are not permitted.
SKIRTS: Skirts must be at least fingertip length or longer and must be navy, black or khaki in color. No logos, holes, rips, tears, patches or insignia of any kind are permitted on skirts. Tops must be dress code (t-shirt or polo shirt as previously described).
DRESSES: Dresses must be at least fingertip length or longer in solid black, navy or khaki color. No logos, holes, rips, tears, patches or insignia of any kind are permitted on dresses. Dresses must be crew neck or polo dresses.
FOOTWEAR: Shoes must have a heel strap or closed back. No flip flops, sliders, or sandals without back straps are allowed. Shoes meeting PE requirements must still be worn during PE on PE designated days.
OUTERWEAR: Zippered or buttoned outerwear is acceptable. If the zippered or buttoned outerwear is not a solid color, then it is an expectation that the modified uniform dress code is worn underneath outerwear.
COOL WEATHER OUTDOOR CLOTHING
Parents may select whatever type of outerwear they wish their child to wear (coats, hats, etc.), but for continued wear inside the classroom, clothing underneath the cold weather outerwear must meet the dress code criteria listed above.

1st Offense: Student will be loaned a uniform if available. Front office will contact parent. Letter is sent home with student via the student planner. Parent must sign and return the letter to school the following day.
2nd Offense: Student will be loaned a uniform if available. Letter is sent home with student. Parent is contacted by the teacher. Parent must sign and return the letter.
3rd Offense: Parent is contacted by the front office and must bring a proper uniform to the school.
4th Offense: Parent is contacted by administrator and must bring a proper uniform to school.
