Message from the Principal - Finding Support after Hurricane Irma, Resuming Learning and Re-acclimating to School Routine

    Midtown Academy's Principal Ms. Slaughter
I want to welcome back all of our scholars to Midtown Academy. I know that this has been a very trying time for students and staff. We recognize that this has been a very difficult time for many of our families last week due to Hurricane Irma.
We want to let families know that they can reach out to us if they are in any need of guidance. Our support staff is on hand to help you. Please do not hesitate to contact our School Social Worker, Ms. Alisha Ford, or our Guidance Counselor, Ms. Shonica Zeigler, to point you in the right direction for assistance.
The breakfast program at Midtown Academy, as always, starts at 7:40a.m.  This week our focus will be on supporting our scholars as they return to normalcy with the school routine. Please remind our scholars that school starts promptly at 8:05a.m. I would like to remind you that Mondays are a formal dress day for scholars, with a white button-down shirt and khaki bottoms. I would also like to remind you that our pick-up and drop-off area is in the back of the school. You will enter from Jewel Street. Walkers and bikers will enter and exit from the front of the school, on 10th Street.
I am asking that we are patient with each other this week, as scholars and faculty acclimate themselves to our school routine. I also want to let you know that we will be rescheduling our “Back to School Night” as well as our PTO and SAC meetings. Scholars will also be bringing home Progress Reports very soon.
Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing you soon.

    Excellence without Question,
    Portia Slaughter
    Principal, Midtown Academy
