Progress Reports posted on FOCUS.  If there are any discrepancies with reporting specific classes, we will repost the Progress Report prior to Virtual Open House

Let’s Chat and PTSA Meeting last week.  Our next Q and A Session will be held Thursday, October 8th at 5:30PM.  A follow up email will be provided with the link to access the Virtual Session.

School Operations (Dr. Gordon, Assistant Principal of Operations)

Our school safety and sanitizing procedures are in full swing.  We are practicing social distancing in all areas of the school, this includes one directional hallways and stairways.  Each hall has hand sanitizer, and all classrooms are equipped with a sanitizing station.  We have also implemented staggered class transitions and dismissal so as to minimize the number of students moving at one time.  At the end of each school day, all classrooms are disinfected and sanitized.

School Expectations (Mr. Wicks, Assistant Principal of Athletics, Activities and Behavior Management)

Please help your scholars by ensuring that they keep extra masks in a bag within their backpacks.  At times students will forget to grab their favorite mask when they leave in the morning.  Masks can accidentally break as well.

If you are dropping off scholars in the morning and arrive after 9:40, please drop off in front of the school as the car circle doors will be closed!

Please monitor your scholar’s attendance and grades by logging into the parent portal for Focus regularly and having your scholar show you his or her class Canvas pages.  If you ever have a question, concern or want to share something positive, please don’t hesitate to email the teachers directly or to call the grade level offices.  Involved parents and guardians make a huge difference in the academic and behavior progress of scholars and together we make a great team.  Thank you for your involvement and all you do for our scholars.

Technology Updates (Ms. Putkonen, Media and Technology Specialist)

New Hours for Car Circle – Appointment Only

We will be changing our hours for the car circle starting Monday, September 21st. By now, most families have devices so if you need a device or want to schedule an appointment to talk with me about your child’s computer, please email me at and I will set up a time to work with you. You can also call me at 727-570-3097 x1030 to schedule a time to stop by the car circle to drop off library books or to handle a computer issue that you are having.

MyPCS Scholars Can Check Out Library Books Too!

Starting Monday, September 21st, the library will be open at Meadowlawn! If you are a MyPCS scholar and want to check out a library book, you can either borrow an ebook through the Sora app on Clever or you can go to the website and place a book on hold. We will message you in Focus when it is ready for pickup and you can come around to the car circle to pick it up. Car circle is by appointment only now, so please call us before you drive over so that we can meet you outside with your book.

If you are a face-to-face scholar, you can come and check out a library book. Please make sure to put any books on the return cart that you have touched so that we can let them sit for a few days before shelving them again. Your support in keeping us all safe is greatly appreciated!

    Dear Educators and Families,

During this very difficult time, please know that our goal is to support you as you help students continue their learning at home.

Our partners at Inner Explorer have developed a daily mindfulness app for families, called 'I AM PRESENT', which is an extension of the program used in more than 30,000 classrooms, including at Meadowlawn Middle School

You can download the app at no cost, thanks to the generosity of several foundations including LG Electronics and the Allstate Foundation.

Students (and families) are encouraged to participate in the Inner Explorer practices every day, through the app to:

    · Reduce Stress: Guided breathing and relaxation exercises are easy to do and replace fight or flight responses with calm.

    · Boost Immune System: Regular practice enhances health and wellbeing (even improves sleep quality).

    · Improve Learning:  With many students working online and at-home, daily use helps kids focus on learning.

    · Foster Resiliency: Teaches children tools to handle challenges with greater clarity and confidence, skills that will last a lifetime.

Inner Explorer's 5-10 minute audio-guided program (in English and Spanish) is easy to use and most effective when practiced regularly.

Remember: Daily mindfulness practice is to Brain Health
what daily teeth-brushing is to Dental Health.

The app will help kids and families practice at home to create calm and focus during these challenging times. Register for the free app today:
