    Newsletter 2017/2018

    August / September

    Welcome to CMS!

We are off to a great start for the 2017/2018 school year.

This summer we had both remediation and enrichment opportunities for our students.  We are very proud of all we can offer.  Our students, as well as elementary school students, participated in our summer Technology Camp where they experienced working with robots, droids, bridge design and building, 3D printing, web creation, programming and other emerging technologies.  Our plan is to continue offering these experiences throughout the year, as well as incorporating this instruction in other classes.

We had a successful Shark Camp in July and Open House for our 6th graders.

On September 7th, we will have an Open House for our 7th and 8th grade families.  You will get to meet your child’s teachers and learn about all the supports we put in place throughout the year.

Carwise was already recognized as a leader in Pinellas County and the State of Florida for the number of Industry Certifications earned.  Our students earned 418 Industry Certifications, an increase from 215 last year, for which we were recognized as a district leader.  These are certifications in Microsoft applications, Adobe, Safe-serve, and other technology applications.  These are the same certifications and tests taken by high school and adult learners.  We are proud of this accomplishment.

We are also recognized as a 5-star school.  This is the 24th year in a row that Carwise Middle has earned this distinction.

We are letting our students know of the academic and social supports we have in place at CMS.

We encourage our students to join clubs and other extra-curricular activities.  We have 22 clubs; STEM, Music, Art, Game Club, Writing club, and many others.  We hope you and your child become involved in our school outside of the school day.

This is going to be another amazing year!  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need support for your child.  I look forward to us all working together throughout this school year.

    Sincerely,

    Robert Vicari, Ed.S

    Principal

Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)

We are now one of a few middle schools in the State of Florida to have a Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Chapter. The students engage in State and National competitions. Every competition has a business focus. Students are provided the opportunity to meet and work with top CEOs and Entrepreneurs from all over the world.  This is Carwise Middle School’s first FBLA group. We are looking forward to competing on a state level in Orlando.
