Monday Update 10-13-25

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with a few updates. I hope everyone is having a great day.

Parents, please know that tomorrow students will be receiving a copy of their class schedule during 1st period.  Some students will be receiving schedule changes.  These changes are occurring to ensure that Carwise Middle is in compliance with the class size amendment law.  We always try to avoid schedule changes and/or the changing of teachers.  However, some changes were necessary.  Thank you for your understanding during this transition as we begin Quarter 2.

Also, I wanted to update everyone about a few upgrades to our school entrance.  Some of you may have noticed that our school’s name sign was removed from above the entrance at the bus ramp.  Work is being done to sand and paint the surrounding area.  Soon new lettering will be installed!

Additionally, our beloved signs recognizing student accomplishments on the front of the school have been taken down.  Unfortunately, over time these have become faded and damaged by the elements, several have blown down during storms, and water damage to the exterior wall has started due to the fastener holes.  The signs will be cleaned up and relocated to interior hallways around the school.

We look forward to the upgraded curb appeal!

Thank you, families, for your continued support of Carwise Middle where SHARKS are Always Moving Forward.  Take care and enjoy the rest of your evening!

Parents, I need your help. We were doing a great job with parents using the car circle to drop off and pick up students before and after school. However, we are getting an influx of parents dropping off students in the visitor parking lot in front of the school. Please remember that the front of the school is our visitor parking lot and our bus loop.  For the safety of your child, please use the car loop behind the school for car riders.  Yes, the car loop does take a few minutes.  However, the safety of your child is more important than saving time. Thank you for your help with enforcing our student drop off and pick up process.

Carwise Middle FBLA Meeting Update

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with an update regarding our upcoming FBLA meeting.

Our FBLA meeting has been moved from Thursday to Wednesday of this week.

FBLA will host their first meeting of the school year on Wednesday, August 27th at 8:40AM (tomorrow) with Coach Hedrick in room 2-110.

Thank you, families, for your continued support of Carwise Middle where SHARKS are Always Moving Forward.  Take care!

Carwise Middle School Weekend Update 08-24-25

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with your Weekend Update.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend.

This week things will settle down as we get our students into their normal class routines.  Congratulations to the students who made the volleyball teams, cross country teams, and cheer team.  Please be sure to communicate with your coaches about practice dates and times.

Thursday morning, we will have our first Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club meeting at 8:40AM in room 2-110 with Coach Hedrick.  FBLA offers opportunities for students to participate and compete at the local, state, and national level.  Don’t miss out!

Also, Thursday evening we will have our first PTSA meeting.  The PTSA will start with a Club Fair at 6PM followed by our first meeting of the school year (flyer attached below).  The Club Fair will showcase some of the clubs, activities, and competition groups that are available to students at Carwise Middle.  Hope to see you there.

Friday applications for Student Government are due.  Students can turn them into their grade level office. For those interested, Student Government is looking for a President and Vice President candidates for each grade level. Each grade level will then elect their representatives.  Our Student Government helps plan our Spirit Week activities as well as works on school improvement projects.  If you are interested, please pick up your application from a grade level office. Again, applications are due Friday, August 29th.

Looking ahead, Carwise will be kicking off a school-wide fundraiser to help raise funds for our PBIS school store as well as funds to reward our students and staff.  The kickoff date will be September 3rd.  Be on the lookout for more information in the future as this fundraiser will include the Day of Awesomeness!

Additionally, other events on the horizon will include our first round of FAST state assessments.  We will start PM1 testing for Math and Reading the week of September 8th with the testing window closing September 26th.  Please help us reinforce the importance of each PM assessment.  These assessments are important because student’s results from one PM assessment will determine where the next PM assessment will start.  Thus, if students do not take PM1 or PM2 seriously, they will be at such a deficit where their PM3 assessment will start, they may never be able to reach level 3 or higher and will most likely not achieve a learning gain either.  PM1 and PM 2 are not practice tests; they set the stage for PM3.

Last, I have attached a few flyers about school and community opportunities.  These items include:  September Breakfast & Lunch Menus, East Lake Community Library Exploring Your Child’s Potential Flyer, AVID Tutor Flyer, and 9-11 Writing Contest Flyer.

Thank you, families, for your continued support of Carwise Middle where SHARKS are Always Moving Forward.  Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Carwise Middle School Reminder 08-20-25

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with a reminder.

Parents, we need your help ensuring our students are following the School Board Policy regarding Dress Code (Policy 5500.04).  I have attached a copy of the Dess Code Policy.  By helping us enforce this policy, we can ensure our students are in class and learning.

I have bullet pointed a few areas from the PCS Dress Code that we have encountered some issues:

  • Clothing must cover midriff, back, sides, and undergarments at all times.
  • Clothing must cover down to mid-thigh.
  • All tops must have sleeves and cover the entire shoulder.
  • Rips, holes, or tears in clothing must be below mid-thigh.
  • Bedroom slippers are not permitted.
  • Form fitting leotard/spandex type clothing is not allowed unless proper outer garments cover to mid-thigh length or longer.
  • Clothing and footwear traditionally designed as sleepwear shall not be worn.

Additionally, the Dress Code states that the violation shall be corrected before the student is allowed back in the regular school environment. Again, please help us keep our students in class and learning.

Thank you, families, for your continued support of Carwise Middle where SHARKS are Always Moving Forward.  Take care and enjoy the rest of your evening.

Carwise Middle – First Day of School Update – 08-11-25

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal, reaching out with a first day of school update.  I am excited to say that we had a successful first day of school.  We had lots of smiling faces in the hallways today.  It was great to see our students engaged and enjoying their classes.

We did have a few late buses at the end of the day due to lots of traffic.  The Transportation Department will continue to work on improving routes and route times. If you have any questions regarding busses, please call the Transportation Department at 727-587-2020. Buses and the car circle will speed up as the week goes on.  I promise!

Also, I wanted to send out a few reminders to our families.  First, students cannot be on campus before 9:10AM as supervision of students does not begin until that time.  We had several students on campus today prior to this time.  For your child’s safety, please ensure students are not dropped off or arrive any earlier than 9:10AM.

For early release of students, please know that 3:45PM is the deadline to pick-up your child early.  No students will be released after this time as this will conflict with the bus and car loop and parents will need to wait until 4:10PM.

Also, please help us reinforce the cell phone and electronics policy.  All cell phones and personal electronics must be turned off, put away, and out of site while at school.  Failure to do so will result in confiscation of the device.  If you need to contact your child during the school day, please contact the grade level office.

Additionally, please help us ensure that our students are following the PCS Dress Code.  We want our students dressed for success and ready to learn.  Attached below is the PCS Dress Code for your review.

Last, please know that the front of the school is our visitor parking lot and bus circle.  The front of the school is NOT for student drop-off/pick-up during arrival and dismissal.  For the safety of your child, please utilize the car loop behind the school (car loop map attached).  Additionally, please do not drop off or pick up your child on the street or in nearby neighborhoods.  I understand that the car circle takes time.  However, the safety of your child is more important than saving time in the car circle. Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you, families, for your continued support of Carwise Middle where SHARKS are Always Moving Forward.  Take care and enjoy the rest of your evening!

We are excited to kickoff the new school year tomorrow, Monday, August 11th.  Student school hours are from 9:40AM until 4:10PM.  Parents, please ensure that students do not arrive at school any earlier than 9:10AM.  Doors will open at 9:20AM.  When students arrive, they should look for their grade level lists so they know which classroom to report to in order to pick up their schedule.  Grade level lists will be located in the following locations:  6th grade – Lockers near the 6th grade hallway; 7th grade – Cafeteria Windows; and 8th grade – Lockers by the Media Center.  We will have lots of staff members out and helping students find their way.

This week our administrators will conduct Student Expectation Assemblies. Sixth grade will take place on Wednesday, seventh grade on Thursday, and eighth grade on Friday.

Also, this week we will begin to assign lockers on Thursday and Friday to those students who want one.  Students must use a school purchased lock.  Locks will be sold all week in the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch for $5.  If students attended Carwise last year, they can use their lock from last year.

School breakfast AND lunch will be free this year for all students. However, if students want snacks or a second lunch, students must pay for these.  Cash or check can be brought to school and deposited in student lunch accounts.  Or parents create an online account to access their child’s lunch account using this site (https://www.pcsb.org/Page/40505).  Thank you!

Attention parents, as of July 1, 2025, Florida House Bill 1105 is now law, and Pinellas County Schools will implement new rules for the 2025-26 school year.  This includes an update to the Middle School Code of Conduct regarding cell phones and electronic devices.  No cell phones or wireless devices may be visible or used during the school day. Your student’s teachers may no longer allow device use for educational purposes during class.  These new changes override previous policies.  Exceptions remain for students with an Individualized Education Plan, 504 Plan, or medical plan that necessitates the use of such devices as well as during emergencies.  The best way to contact your child during the school day is to call the office directly.  We appreciate your support in helping us Power Up Learning and Powering Down Distractions to create a focused and respectful learning environment.

Attention all car riders, I have attached a traffic flow map for you. Our car drop off/pick-up area is behind the school.  Please know that the front of the school is our visitor parking lot and bus circle. The front of the school is NOT for student drop off/pick-up.  For the safety of your child, please utilize the car loop.

Volleyball tryouts will be on August 13 and 14 (paperwork due by August 12).  Boys tryouts will be before school at 7:30AM.  Girls will be after school until 6:00PM.  Drop off and pick up for tryouts will be in the car loop behind the school by the gym.  See attached flyer for more details.

Cheerleading tryouts will be on August 20 and 21 (paperwork due by August 19).  Tryouts will be after school until 5:30PM.  Pick-up students after tryouts in the car circle behind the school.

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  My name is Mr. Eiben, and I am the principal at Carwise Middle School.  I am reaching out with LOTS of important information.

First, I want to congratulate our students and staff on their hard work last school year.  Our efforts have once again earned Carwise Middle an “A” school rating by the state of Florida.  Job well done!

Parents, please know that student schedules are still being completed by our school staff.  Schedules are subject to change until the first day of school.  Additionally, class sizes will be balanced after the first 10 days of school, so additional schedule changes may occur.  Please know that any changes are done so to ensure students are placed in the appropriate classes to promote student success and to ensure compliance with the state class size amendment.

School starts for students on Monday, August 11th.  Student school hours are from 9:40AM until 4:10PM. On the first day, when students arrive, they should look for their grade level lists so they know which classroom to report to in order to pick up their schedule.  Grade level lists will be located in the following locations:  6th grade – Lockers near the 6th grade hallway; 7th grade – Cafeteria Windows; and 8th grade – Lockers by the Media Center.  We will have lots of staff members out and helping students find their way.

Upcoming 6th Grade Events for Carwise Middle School

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  My name is Mr. Eiben, and I am the principal at Carwise Middle School.  I am reaching out to our incoming 6th grade families to inform you of some exciting upcoming school events.

First, for our incoming 6th graders we will have Shark Camp on Tuesday, July 29th.  This camp will help familiarize our 6th graders with the school campus, processes and procedures as well as allow students to meet other 6th grade students and teachers.  I highly encourage all 6th graders to attend this camp.  The camp begins with a 30-minute introduction meeting for parents and students in the cafeteria. After the introduction, students will move on to small group rotations to familiarize themselves with Carwise Middle and parents will be free to leave.  Also, to help with the middle school transition, if your child receives special education (ESE) services in a self-contained Access classroom, we will have a special breakout session for students and parents after the 30-minute introduction meeting.

We will have two Shark Camp time slots on July 29th.  The first is 9:00 until 11:15AM for last names starting with letters A through L.  The second time slot is 12:30 until 2:45PM for last names starting with letters M through Z.  However, we are asking that all incoming 6th grade Access ESE families attend the 9AM session, regardless of last name.

Additionally, we will have our 6th Grade Open House on Thursday, August 7th.  Doors will open at 5:30PM and the program will begin at 6PM.  This is a great event that allows students and families to get their class schedule and meet their teachers before school starts.  Each class period will meet for about 10 minutes so teachers can explain their class and class expectations.  Don’t miss this event!

Also, for students interested in trying out for any of the Carwise Middle sports teams they will need to turn in a current physical (dated within the past year), a participation form (attached), school insurance (link), and a 2.0 GPA.  All paperwork can be dropped off at the front office labeled Attn: Ms. Mudd/7th Grade Office.  Paperwork deadlines will be announced before tryouts for each sport. Our first season for the school year will be Volleyball.  Tryout dates are TBD.  Please see the attached flyer to see all the sports teams that we have at Carwise!

Last, I have attached several flyers below with information regarding Shark Camp, 6th Grade Open House, Supply List, and School Athletics.

Please reach out if you have any questions.  We are looking forward to a Fintastic school year!
