Principal Eiben's Announcements

A Few Reminders - 7/28/21

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  This is Mr. Eiben, your principal at Carwise Middle School.  I am reaching out with two reminders.

First, for our incoming 6th graders we have Shark Camp coming up on Wednesday, July 28th (that is tomorrow).  This camp will help familiarize our incoming 6th graders with the school campus, processes and procedures as well as allow them to meet other 6th graders and teachers too.  I highly encourage any 6th grader that is nervous about starting middle school to attend this camp.  We will offer two time slots on this day.  The first is 9AM until 11:15 for last names staring with letters A through L.  The second time slot is 12:30PM until 2:45 for last names starting with letters M through Z.  No RSVP or reservation is necessary.  Also, parents are encouraged to stay the first 15 minutes of each session.

Second, we will also offer school tours for any 7th or 8th grader that is new to Carwise Middle on Thursday, July 29th.  These tours will allow our new 7th and 8th grade students and parents to get acquainted with the school and ask questions.  We will offer two time slots for our tours:  10AM and 2PM.  Again, no reservation or RSVP is necessary.

Also, please know that all of my messages are posted on our Carwise Middle School website (Carwise Middle (ms) / Homepage (pcsb.org).  Just click on the link for “Principal Eiben’s Announcements.”

Thank you, families!  We are looking forward to a fantastic school year at Carwise Middle where Together Everyone Accomplishes More.  School starts for students on Wednesday, August 11th.  Please reach out if you have any questions.  Enjoy the rest of your summer and take care.

Carwise Upcoming Pre-School Events

Hello, Carwise Middle School families.  My name is Mr. Eiben and I am the proud principal at Carwise Middle School.  I am reaching out to inform our families of some upcoming pre-school dates, deadlines, and events.  We are looking forward to a fun-filled school year.

First, for our incoming 6th graders we have Shark Camp coming up on Wednesday, July 28th. No RSVP or reservation necessary.  Also, parents are encouraged to stay the first 15 minutes of each session.

Next, we will also offer school tours for any 7th or 8th grader that is new to Carwise Middle on Thursday, July 29th.  These tours will allow our new 7th and 8th grade students and parents to get acquainted with the school and ask questions.  We will offer two time slots for our tours:  10AM and 2PM.  Again, no reservation or RSVP is necessary.

Additionally, we will have our 6th Grade Open House on Monday, August 9th.  This date may be different than what some elementary schools advertised.  Again, 6th Grade Open Hours will be on Monday, August 9th.  Doors will open at 5:45PM and the program will begin at 6PM.  Starting at 5:45 families can sign up for the PTSA, purchase spirit wear, put money on lunch accounts, and register to be a volunteer and/or mentor.  Once on campus we will have 1st period classes posted alphabetically for each student so families can report to their 1st period class and pick up their schedule.  During open house you will stay in each class for a short period of time to find out about each class and teacher.  This is a great event that allows students to meet their teachers and walk the school to see where their classes are located before the first day of school.

Our 7th and 8th Grade Open Hours will be held later in the school year on Thursday, September 9th.  More information will come as the date gets closer.

Attention parents of 7th graders, please remember that we need your child’s updated shot records.  Seventh grade students are required to have their Tdap vaccine prior to the start of school or a valid documented exemption.  Otherwise, students will be excluded from classes as per Florida Statue.  If you have not done so, please dope off your shot records to the front office.  Thank you!

Attached to the accompanying email is a general school supply list.  This is not an all-inclusive list as some teachers have specific items that they may require for their class.  However, this list will include most items that will be needed for school.  Please reach out to the school if you need assistance with school supplies.

Parents please know that student schedules are still being completed by our school staff.  Please know that schedules are not finalized at this point and are still subject to change up until the first day of school.  Additionally, class sizes will be balanced after the first 10 days of school, so additional schedule changes may occur.  Please know that any changes are done so to ensure students are placed in the appropriate classes in order to promote student success.

Regarding COVID protocols, during our summer programs masks were optional for students and staff.  We did continue to utilize social distancing to the greatest extent possible as well as assigned seats during class and lunch time.  Also, classroom and campus sanitizing are still occurring throughout the day.  Masks and hand sanitizer are still readily available to all students and staff.  As soon as I know if there will be any changes to the COVID protocols for the upcoming school year, I will let you know as soon as possible.

Last, front office staff is scheduled to return on Monday, July 19th.  We will continue to be open only Monday through Thursday for the next two weeks.  It is advised to call ahead to make an appointment if you are finishing the enrollment process.  All other staff, including teachers, will return to campus on Monday, August 2nd.

We are looking forward to a fantastic school year at Carwise Middle where Together Everyone Accomplishes More.  School starts for students on Wednesday, August 11th.  Please reach out if you have any questions.  Enjoy the rest of your summer and take care.
