Announcements

  • Weekend Update - 12-01-19

Good afternoon Carwise Middle families.  This is Principal Eiben reaching out with some weekend updates.  I hope everyone has had a restful and relaxing Thanksgiving Break.  Just three weeks until Winter Break.  We do have lots going on in the coming weeks.

This week we will be having Cycle 2 Writing Assessments.  These assessments will help us determine areas that need to be addressed prior to the state writing test.

Parents, I have an important request.  Please utilize the car circle behind the school for drop off and pick up of your child.  We have way too many cars using the front parking lot as a drop off location.  This is very dangerous as this is where our busses unload.  Also, please do not utilize the neighborhoods nearby a as a pick up and drop off location.  We are getting complaints from residents about cars being parked on neighborhood streets and students running through yards and running landscaping.  Again, please use our car circle.  Thank you so much for your help with this.

Also, we do have a lot of student cafeteria accounts that are in the negative balance area.  Please contact the cafeteria to check your child’s purchasing activity.  Also, you can set up an account to deposit money and monitor purchasing activity at www.myschoolbucks.com  Or you can send cash or check in to the school with your child.  If you qualify and have not applied for free/reduced, please do so at www.myschoolapps.com  Thank you from our Cafeteria Manager!

Last, the Builders Club Holiday Book Drive to help Goodwill Bookworks is happening now!  Teachers, students and staff please donate your gently used books to a grade level office, front office, or mailroom book bins. Books are treasures to be shared this holiday season.

Thank you all and have a restful and relaxing Sunday.

I want to thank all parents for their understanding as we move through the schedule change process.  This time of the school year is never easy as we navigate our way through the class size amendment laws.  We are still in the process of balancing class sizes and changing schedules to ensure we are in compliance.  We know that this is not fun, but it is required.  Thank you again for your understanding.

The Carwise PTSA is excited to announce Cupcake Wars.  The event is open to all Carwise students.

Get those cupcakes ideas brewing!  The theme for this contest is Halloween!!  Entry forms are available in all grade level offices!  Also, the PTSA is half way through their fundraiser, so keep those packets coming in to school!  - A quick reminder that online orders are the only way to purchase your awesome gear.  Please remember to select your shipping option-  if none is selected at checkout, it might delay your order and we want our Sharks to get their deliveries quickly.  Thank you CMS families!  Please remember that all PTSA information and events can be found on the PTSA website at CarwiseMiddleptsa.com

    Weekend Update - 09-15-19

Hello Carwise Middle School families.  This is Principal Eiben reaching out with some weekend updates.

This Monday, Sept. 16th we will have a Student Council information meeting at 9:00AM in room 6-208.  All are welcome.  Hope to see you there!  Also, on Monday we will have an away volleyball game at Safety Harbor Middle School and after school ELP/tutoring from 4:20 to 5:20PM.

Tuesday, Sept. 17th we will have after school ELP/tutoring from 4:20 to 5:20PM.

Wednesday, Sept. 18th we will have before school ELP/tutoring from 8:20 to 9:20AM.  Also, on Wednesday we will have an Active Threat Drill.  Please talk to your child about the importance of these drills.  The Award Winning Builders Club will have its first meeting for the school year on Wednesday in Mrs. Bowen's room 6-124 from 4:15 to 5:20PM, with parent pick-up at the back car circle no later than 5:30. If you are interested in helping others in our community through our service projects as well as having fun doing it, Builders Club is the club for you! Membership forms will be given out at the first meeting.  Last, on Wednesday we have another away volleyball game at Tarpon Middle.

Thursday, Sept. 19th we will have before school ELP/tutoring from 8:20 to 9:20AM.

Friday, Sept. 20th we will have emergency bus evacuation in the morning.

The Carwise Clothes Closet needs new or gently worn girls’ clothing that are dress code appropriate (especially jeans)?  Thank you so much!

Just a reminder that school lunches cost $2.75.  If you received free/reduced lunch last year, please be sure to complete a new application as the grace period will end on September 26th.

Parents please be sure not to drop off you student at school any earlier than 9:10AM, as per the school board policy.  Supervision of students in order to ensure student safety does not begin any earlier than this time.  Just as important, it is imperative that you pick up your child by 4:40PM.  Again, there is no supervision for student after this time, additionally the staff needs to leave when school hours are complete.  Thank you for your help.

Parents please be aware that we will be adding additional teaching sections.  This means that we will need to change student schedules in order to ensure that we meet the state mandated class size amendment law.   Please know that this is a state law and we are required to do so; however, at the same time this means that class sizes will be smaller and students will get more individualized attention.  These schedule changes will occur on Tuesday, September 16th.  We apologize for any unwanted changes; however, this is an unavoidable occurrence.  Thank you for your understanding.

The PTSA started their fundraiser kick-off on Friday.  Packets were handed out to all students.  If your child did not receive a packet, please have them ask their grade level office on Monday.  The catalog has something for everyone and anyone can shop online with ease!  For every 3 items sold, students can bring in the tickets in the packet to win their favorite shark collectible.  Volunteers will be in the front of the school for the first 2 weeks so students can turn their tickets in for sharks.

The PTSA loved seeing all of our 7th and 8th grade shark families on Thursday!  We handed out flyers for our PTSA Membership Contest.  Any class that reaches 100% participation wins a pizza party!  Contest ends October 15th.  Good luck and thank you for supporting your PTSA!

The PTSA is hosting a new event this year.... CUPCAKE WARS!  If your student is interested in participating, you can find the details on their website at carwisemiddleptsa.com!

A Back to School Dance will take place on Wed, Sept 25 in the cafeteria from 4:15 to 5:30PM.  There will be a DJ and snacks for purchase.  Tickets will be $3.00 and will be sold Wednesday, Sept. 18th through Tuesday, Sept. 24th at all three lunches.  Tickets will NOT be sold the day of the dance.  Come on out and let’s dance!

Thank you and have a great weekend!

The CMS PTSA is excited to partner with Chik-fil-A, Oldsmar, for the month of September.  Every Thursday from 6 to 8PM will be our spirit nights.  Please mention Carwise PTSA and Chik-fil-A will give our PTSA 20% back to support our school.  We look forward to seeing our family’s come together for a quick meal and pictures with the Chik-fil-A cow.  We look forward to seeing you there!  Details can be found on our Facebook or Instagram.
