• Portia Slaughter
     Portia Slaughter, principal of Midtown Academy (July 2016 to present), began her employment in Pinellas County Schools in 1998. She served as a Classroom Teacher at John Hopkins Middle School (1998-2005); an Assistant Principal at Safety Harbor Middle School (2005-2007), at Boca Ciega High School (2007-2009), and at Tyrone Middle School (2009-2011); an Administrator on District Assignment (2011); and as Assistant Principal at Tarpon Springs High School (2015-2016). Ms. Slaughter’s educational experience also includes serving as a Transformation Specialist (2012) and as Principal, Camp Curtin Academy (2013-2015) in Pennsylvania. Ms. Slaughter earned a bachelor’s degree in Education and a master’s degree in Secondary Education from Florida A & M University. She earned her certification in Educational Leadership from the University of South Florida.
