Important News about Educator Certification
- Military Certification Fee Waivers: Florida offers initial certification application and exam fee waivers for eligible military personnel and spouses. For more information, please visit: https://www.fldoe.org/teaching/certification/military/ or contact TroopsTeaching4FL@fldoe.org.
- Effective JULY 1, 2024: The Reading K-12 Subject Area Exam can no longer be used to add the Reading Endorsement per HB7011.
- Civics Seal of Excellence Endorsement: The Civics Seal of Excellence program is a 60 hour online course consisting of an introduction and five modules aligned to the revised civics and government standards. Per Rule 6A-4.0164, all K-12 teachers with a valid license issued by the FLDOE and employed by a local school district or charter school are eligible to earn the endorsement. - Elementary and Secondary Literacy Micro-Credentials: The Literacy Micro-Credentials were created in partnership with the Florida Department of Education, the Division of Early Learning, and the UF Lastinger Center for Learning. Florida’s Literacy Coach Endorsement Program (PDF) is rolling out gradually through face-to-face (FCRR) and online (UF) options. The Department launched the FCRR Literacy Coach Endorsement Program in Summer 2022 for literacy coaches serving RAISE intensive support schools. The UF Lastinger Center Literacy Coach Endorsement Program deployed in Fall 2022. More opportunities to participate in Florida's Literacy Coach Endorsement Program are on the horizon!
