Have you ever seen snow? Or maybe you want to know more about snow? Well keep

reading because here's 7 fun facts about snow...

1.  World Largest Snowflake:  The world’s largest snowflake was reported to be

15 inches across and 8 inches thick. The Guinness Book of World Records states that

this giant snowflake was found at Fort Keogh, Montana on January 28, 1887.

2.  Snow Is Not White:  Snow is actually clear and colorless.

3.  Earth's Fresh Water is Frozen:  80% of all the freshwater on earth is frozen

as ice or snow.  This accounts for 12% of the earth’s surface.

4. Two Flakes: There is no scientific proof that no two snowflakes aren't exactly alike.

5. What's Watermelon Snow: Watermelon snow is snow with algae growing on it.

The algae is a reddish color. It is mostly found in the Canadian Rockies.

6. Snirt? When combined, windblown snow and black dirt make what is called snirt.

7. When Does A Snow Storm Becomes A Blizzard? A snow storm becomes a blizzard

when visibility is under 1/4 mile and the storm continues for more than 3 hours with

winds of 35 mph.
