Lakewood junior Keeoshia Edwards died in a car accident on I-275 on Feb. 8. The following Monday (Feb. 10), guidance counselors and grief counselors from Pinellas County provided grief counselling for students during the first and second block of the day. After lunch, students were welcomed to go to any guidance counselor to talk.
Edwards’ family held a candlelight vigil for her on Sunday. The family will be having a wake on Friday 21, the location will be disclosed at a later date.
Edwards will be remembered fondly in the minds of those who loved her, among those people is art teacher Larry West who had her in one of his morning classes.
“She always made you feel comfortable, you felt you could talk to her. I would always be able to put my arms around her and let her know that I appreciated her, and she would do the same to me,” West said.
