Lakewood’s eighth annual song-writing contest will be held this Thursday (Feb. 13) at 6:30 p.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish Church, 1600 54th Ave. S. St. Petersburg.

Music teacher Jacob Merrett, who oversees the event, said attendees can expect, “Some cool music, new music they’ve never heard before.”

Admission is $10 and includes coffee and a variety of desserts. The money collected from admission will benefit Lakewood’s music honors society, Tri-M.

The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges and will receive a $50 gift card.
