Three Lakewood football players signed Wednesday to play Division I college football on what is referred to as Early National Signing Day.
Quarterback Gregory “Deuce” Spann and defensive end Tre’von Riggins received full scholarships to the University of Illinois, and defensive end Marques Alexander got a full scholarship to attend the University of Connecticut.
Coaches, teachers, administrators, students and family members attended the event in the Lakewood auditorium.
“I told my dad before he passed away that this day was going to come, and it’s finally here,” Riggins said.
