The John Hopkins boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams traveled to Meadowlawn Wednesday, Sept. 24 where, according to Coach Glessner, it encountered the most skilled opponents it has seen over two seasons.

“On both the boys and girls side, Meadowlawn’s teams were well-coached, highly skilled and extremely accurate,’’ Coach Glessner said. “The girls battled through three sets against a team serving up set play and network unlike anything they’ve encountered in the recent past.

“Kai Moore and Adrianna Lewis showed the skill they have perfected in practice and Kathryn Girdled the scoring surge in the final set. With great teamwork and exception effort, the girls pulled it out in the third set for the win keeping them undefeated on the season at 3-0.

“I’ve never been so proud of these girls,’’ Coach Glessner said. “They played their hearts out, they had fun and we walked away with a win. What more could you ask for in sports?

The boys brought up a great fight with great serving from Jose Perez and some solid play from Cael Delgado, but in the end, the boys were defeated in two sets. They now stand at 1-2 for the season.

Both teams travel to Bay Point on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
