How to Apply
Disston Academy for Progress and Enterprise serves scholars zoned to Boca Ciega, Hollins, Gibbs, Lakewood, Northeast and St. Petersburg High schools. We will consider applications beginning in April for the start of the school year and in December for the start of the second semester in January. There are two paths to enrollment at Disston Academy. The first method requires scholars to work with their current school's guidance counselor or administrator. The second method is by direct request, where parents and/or scholars may complete the online application process. You are welcome to review our virtual orientation PowerPoint to receive detailed information about our school prior to your invitation to attend. Please feel free to apply online today by clicking the link below or stop by and submit your application in person.
The application process includes a review of each student's comprehensive portfolio, including but not limited to the transcript, the discipline summary, the attendance record, other pertinent information. A diverse committee of school faculty and staff assists in determining if Disston Academy can provide a safe and supportive environment to foster student success. In most cases, families and the referring schools are notified of the admissions outcome within 72 hours.
Scheduling
All current and returning Disston Academy scholars are required to attend in person during the 2024-25 school year. Scholar hours are 7:15 AM-1:45 PM. However, scholars are allowed to arrive at campus as early as 6:45 AM. Scholars participate in a traditional seven-period academic schedule daily. Additionally, scholars participate in mentoring, club activities and other support through our advisory period every second and fourth Friday.
Food Services
Disston Academy for Progress and Enterprises is a Community School Food program recipient. All scholars will receive school breakfast and lunch at no cost for the entire school year. If you have any questions or would like to report special dietary needs, please contact administration.
