Southern Oak Administration
Dr. Sue Taylor, Principal and Mrs. Angela Ohmer Assistant Principal
I am so pleased to be Southern Oak’s new principal! Previously, I taught 3rd , 4th and 5th grades for ten years at both Melrose Elementary and Lynch Elementary Schools. I have been a principal at Melrose Elementary School, Highland Lakes Elementary, and most recently High Point Elementary School all in Pinellas County. I am a lifelong learner, and love to watch both students and teachers grow! I was born in Milford, Connecticut, and moved with my family to St. Petersburg when I was 13 years old. I attended Rivera Middle School and I am a graduate of Northeast High School. I attended USF at Bayboro in St. Petersburg, and received both my masters and doctorate degrees from Nova Southeastern University in West Palm Beach. I love spending time with my husband, family & friends. I have three miniature schnauzers that are full of energy and keep us very busy. Their names are Zoey, Tessa, and Abby. What do I do when I am not in school? Love to travel, read on my Kindle, and ride around with the pups on the golf cart. Looking forward to an amazing school year partnering with our families, staff and stakeholders!
Mrs. Angela Ohmer
I am very excited to have the opportunity to be Southern Oak’s new Assistant Principal! I’m looking forward to seeing our students continue to grow. I’ve been at Southern Oak since 2007 as an ESE teacher and most recently, the acting Assistant Principal the last 3 months of the school year. I’ve worked at several other elementary schools in the district and am happy to have found Southern Oak as my home. I’ve had experience teaching all elementary grade levels, K-5, and have also worked in the Area 2 ESE compliance office.
I am a Florida native and product of Pinellas County Schools. I attended the University of South Florida, St. Petersburg campus for both my Bachelors and Masters degrees. I love to learn and encourage others along the way, from my students to our teachers. I love children! I’m married with soon to be 3 children, one of which forever lives in my heart. Like our new Principal, Dr. Taylor, I also have 3 dogs, two Boston Terriers and one Jack Russell Terrier. What do I do when I’m not at school? I enjoy traveling with my family when I can. Our travel usually consists of Ice Hockey rinks all over Florida and other states, watching my oldest son, Josh play defense.
I’m looking forward to seeing all of our new and returning Southern Oak students and families!
