Westgate Elementary Clubs
-
Westgate Elementary hosts many Afterschool Enrichment Clubs, such as Chess Club, Art, Girlfriends, LEGO Robotics, and Girls on the Run. We also offer after-school tutoring and our new Boys Read Team.
Themes and interests vary from year to year. Please reach out to your teacher for the current offerings.
FIRST LEGO LEAGUE (FLL) ROBOTICS: This is a competitive robotics program open to 4th and 5th grade students. It requires weekend commitments by families. This program has been grant-funded and is currently tentative for 2025-2026.
GIRLFRIENDS MENTOR PROGRAM: Girlfriends pair students in grades 3-5 with female mentors. They get together throughout the year to participate in team-building and leadership activities.
GIRLS ON THE RUN: Girls who are interested in running and building their physical fitness and stamina are eligible to sign up for this popular club. The Club meets twice a week during the first semester, working towards participating in a 5K road race.
BOYS READ TEAM: To help promote reading among our elementary-aged boys, Westgate sponsors a competitive Boys Read team. Students get together and commit to reading (5) books afterschool. They discuss characters, plot narratives, and learn new vocabulary and do fun activities. In January, they compete against other schools.
