Library & Makerspace Programming

  • Many programs at Westgate Elementary operate out of the Media Center.  First and foremost, we are a library for our 510 students, serving children in PK3 through 5th grade.  We are a neighborhood school founded in 1957, rich in legacy and tradition.  For many of our families, we are their only library, their only access to books in the wider community.

HOW FAMILIES CAN BE INVOLVED IN OUR LIBRARY.

We are always open to having parents/family members volunteer in the library as guest readers for our VPK and Kindergarten storytime.  We welcome parents to help out in our Makerspace.  And we welcome family and community members with video production background or would be willing to learn to assist our News Crew students with the Morning News.

    WESTGATE MAKERSPACE

We have a busy Makerspace in our library where students can explore hands-on learning activities. If you would like to be involved in programming for our Makerspace or have an idea, please reach out to our Media Specialist.

    PCS CONNECTS

The District One-to-One Initiative is coordinated out of our library.  If your student is having any technical issues with their laptop, please have them stop by the library before school.  If you have any questions after-hours or would be interested in some specific family lessons on how to use some of the Digital Learning programs, please fill out a Family E-Coaching Request.  The link is on our homepage.

Taking home a laptop is provided as an option for students in Grades 3-5, as long as families sign a Responsibility Form. Please review how how to take care of the device with your child.
