Good evening Southern Oak Owl Community. This is Principal Wilson with our September 16th Announcements.

Thank you, parents, for all you do to ensure students arrive on time to school and are prepared for learning.  September 10th was our Mid-term report of how your child is performing for the first half of the first quarter.  If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher as soon as possible.

Due to all the safety concerns at various schools, we are really beefing up security on our campus to keep our students, staff, and community safe.  Parents are not allowed to walk students past the signs that are posted on campus unless the student is PreK/VPK.  We are asking that you please abide by these requirements.  Students will not be released early from school after 2:30 PM.  This leaves concerns at the front desk.

If your child is sick with a fever and/or is throwing up, please keep your child home to maintain the health of students and staff.

Included in this email is the Hello Week for students.  We will have various activities for students to participate to make sure no one feels left out or isolated on campus.

We are accepting nominations for teacher of the year here at Southern Oak Elementary School.  If you would like to nominate a teacher, please complete the link with a brief paragraph of why the teacher should be the teacher to represent Southern Oak Elementary School by noon September 19th.  Thank you for your time in recognizing our amazing teachers here at Southern Oak Elementary.

If, by chance, you missed the informational meeting for the new K-8 school for the 2025-26 school year, there will be one final meeting on October 15th from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm in Southern Oak Elementary School cafeteria.  District Staff will be here to present up-to-date information and answer any questions you may have concerning the new school.

Finally, our annual Trunk or Treat will occur on October 24th from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm.  Donations of candy is needed to help make this event a success.  Donations of candy will be accepted until Friday, October 18th in the front office.
