As part of our strategic plan for Pinellas County Schools to extend the school day and to meet the learning needs of all students, we are beginning Microsoft IC3 Digital Literacy Certification class. This program is only offered to a few select students and will allow them an opportunity to earn a National Industry Certification that will follow them into middle and high school.

IC3 Spark validates skills in three major areas:

    • Living Online: Covers skills for working in an Internet or network environment.
    • Key Applications: Covers popular word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications and the common features of all applications.
    • Computing Fundamentals: Covers a foundational understanding of computing.

Bauder Elementary is among a few schools in the county to offer this technology certification at the elementary level in Pinellas County.  Currently, many of the middle and high schools offer this type of program.  IC3 Spark is written with students in grades 5-7 in mind.

Most of the sessions will be self-paced; however, we will also focus on certain topics during whole group practice sessions.  When your child is ready, they will take the state certification exam at Bauder free of charge. Once your child passes the certification test, their course will be complete and they will “graduate” from this session.  This timeline will be different for each student

Students must pass the state certification test to receive their IC3 Digital Literacy Certification.
