Good day Nina Harris Community,
This year marks my second year with Nina Harris ESE Center. For those of you who I have not had the pleasure to meet yet, I was the Assistant Principal at Richard L. Sanders for about 5 years before moving to Nina. I have worked with the Special Education population for most of my 20+ years in education. I have dual Masters Degrees and a background in Human Resources, Educational Technology, and many of you know I was a proud member of the United States Air Force, “Aim High” for 13 years. I have two sons, one is a middle school teacher and the other is an insurance broker, both live in Colorado. I have two fur children; Mara and John Wayne, a.k.a Duke. They are Old English Bulldogs.
I am so extremely proud of our school. We have so much to “brag” about. Most importantly is our commitment to our work with improving student communication. We have embraced Core Communication and all it entails. (Go to Project-Core.com for more information and free trainings) Our school is covered with MELD Communication Core words. Each student now has individualized communication access. Ask your teacher for more information and materials for your home to promote communication.
Our staff is the finest in the District, many have been at Nina for more than 10 years. They have completed numerous trainings to support our students and their own professional growth with evidence based communication processes and behavior. Our classroom assistants completed 6 Modules to enhance their skills in the classroom. Our goal is to be the premier ESE center in the State. Please feel free to call upon your teacher
We miss having our families on Campus, and we realize some campuses are allowing a few visitors. Due to the nature of our student’s abilities and health concerns we will continue to limit school visitations when students are on campus.
We are here for our students and families. Please call us anytime and we will support your needs to the best of our abilities.
