February is National Volunteer Appreciation Month and Tarpon Springs Elementary is so very fortunate to have so many wonderful volunteers! We’d like to thank all of you for the time and dedication that you have given to our school and our students. We are happy to announce that we have chosen Kristin Soule and Beth Ann vom Eigen as our Volunteers of the Year.
Mrs. Soule became part of our “family” in 2008 and has been a wonderful addition! She has been a steady volunteer two days per week for the last five years in Mrs. Kelly’s third grade classroom and last school year added two kindergarten classes to her schedule – missing only a few days when her son got married! She volunteered during the summer to continue working with “her” students during Summer Bridge summer school.
Mrs. vom Eigen is a retired special needs educator who has a dedication and love for struggling, difficult students and those students always look forward to working with and for Miss Beth Ann! Beth Ann volunteers weekly in three classrooms where she works one-on-one with the students. She tests them to determine their needs, confers with the teachers, makes her lesson plans and brings her own materials. As often as possible, she has followed students to their next grade level to continue working with them. She also volunteered her time to work with a student during the Summer Bridge program at our school.
