• MFMS CGS Teachers


     Bohl Mrs. Stephani Bohl is our 8th grade Honors Algebra and Honors Geometry teacher. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Management from the University of South Florida and completed the Pinellas County Schools alternative certification program in 2007. Mrs. Bohl is our school PTSA president and the parent of three children who are gifted, all of whom attended the Center for Gifted Studies. 

    Mr. Lee Mortimer joined the gifted team in 2012. He teaches both the 6th and 7th grade Advanced Mathematics curriculum. Mr. Mortimer graduated from SPC with a bachelor’s degree in Secondary Mathematics. He also has a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from USF St Pete. Mr. Mortimer chairs the math department at MFMS and is the school data coordinator.


    Ms. Lisa Micalizzi is the gifted department chair and was one of the inaugural teachers at the Morgan Fitzgerald Middle School Center for Gifted Studies. She holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Psychology from the State University of New York at New Paltz and a master's degree in Gifted Education from USF. Ms. Micalizzi teaches the 8th grade English 1 Honors course and Advanced Academics. 


    Mrs. Christie Murray joined the gifted team last year as our 6th grade US History teacher. Mrs. Murray earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Science Education at USF and has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Social Studies for 19 years. She was a participant in Pinellas County’s Teaching American History Grant and is the school’s social studies department chair.


    Mr. Tyler Rogers is new to the gifted magnet this year and teaches 6th and 7th grade Language Arts. He graduated from Tiffin University (Ohio) with a degree in English Education, and came to MFMS for the 2016-2017 school year. He enjoys reading, running, is an exceptional writing teacher, and is one of the school yearbook coordinators. We are very excited to have him join our team!


    Mr. Peter Scalia teaches 7th grade Civics and Advanced Academics. He joined the MFMS Gifted Center in 2012. Mr. Scalia holds a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in Journalism and is certified in Middle Grades Social Studies and Middle Grades Science. Mr. Scalia is the coach of our school Science Olympiad time, which holds several awards from district and state competitions. He also coordinates the school Future City competition.


    Mrs. Dianna Wolff teaches 7th grade advanced mathematics and Algebra 1 Honors. She is a graduate of Florida State University with a bachelor's degree in accounting and completed her teaching credentials at HCC. She also holds a graduate certificate in gifted education from USF. Mrs. Wolff is proud of the many individual and team titles won by the MFMS Center for Gifted Studies Might Mu and Math Counts competition teams.
