Why the Academy of Science and Engineering at Seminole Middle School?
-School-based application process requires students to meet high academic and behavioral expectations.
-Rigorous STEM-based curriculum. Students accepted into the Academy of Science and Engineering will receive an engineering elective in 6th, 7th and 8th grade. The 8th grade academy class will provide students the opportunity to earn a high school elective credit.
-Students will complete a capstone project and receive an SMS Academy of Science and Engineering Certificate upon completion of the 8th grade.
-Opportunity to complete nationally recognized industry CAPE certifications
-Engaging project-based learning opportunities with real world connections to engineering
-Preparing students for career and college readiness
-Provides students with pathway opportunities to engineering and technical programs at Seminole High School and Richard O. Jacobson Technical High and throughout the district
-If you do not live in the SMS zone, you can apply for a Special Attendance Request (SAR), through the PCS Pupil Assignment Office.

Acceptance into the Academy of Science and Engineering is contingent upon teacher recommendations, discipline history, and availability of openings in the program. When necessary, a lottery selection process will be used to determine student selection. A waiting list will be maintained.
