Largo Middle School offers several extracurricular activities. These are volleyball, basketball, track, and cheerleading. Each of these activities meets outside of school hours to practice and compete. Participation in extracurricular activities can be a satisfying and rewarding part of your child's middle school experience.
Requirements for Participation
Students who are participating in extracurricular sports (volleyball, basketball, track, cheerleading) are required to have a current physical & school accident insurance prior to trying out for the sport (see below).
In order to participate in extracurricular activities, students must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. In addition, behavior at school must be satisfactory to excellent. All students are expected to maintain these standards throughout the school year and not just during the time of extracurricular participation.
Tryouts for these activities occur at the following times:
Student Accident Insurance
All students participating in extracurricular activities are REQUIRED to purchase Student Accident Insurance, per Pinellas County School Board policy. This insurance is required of ALL participants, whether covered by a major medical policy or not. There are several different options for coverage. Students who are already covered by a health plan may opt to have a low option coverage; however, the student accident insurance coverage is mandatory.
