Welcome to Ponce de Leon Elementary!
My name is Antonio Smith and with great excitement I would like to introduce myself to you as the Principal of Ponce de Leon Elementary! It is a pleasure and honor to serve a school community of great teachers, staff, scholars and families. As Principal, I bring to this position my love for scholars and their success, enthusiasm, hope, and high expectations for student learning. I believe in the power of knowledge and understand the ways in which education can open doors for scholars to accomplish their goals and achieve dreams and aspirations. Ponce de Leon Elementary School has the BEST equipped faculty and staff to help your scholar(s) on their academic journey.
I am a dedicated educator serving the scholars of Pinellas County Schools since 2006. My past experiences include working as an Assistant Principal at Fairmount Park Elementary School, Maximo Elementary School, and Walsingham Elementary School. As a classroom teacher, I have taught various elementary grade levels in Traditional, Magnet, and Fundamental schools.
I am a product of Pinellas County Schools, I graduated from Osceola High School. Post-secondary education includes graduating from the College of Education at the University of South Florida in May 2009, in which I earned a degree in Elementary Education, Bachelor’s (K-6) with an endorsement for English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). In the skilled program of study, I was able to work with many kinds of scholars from various cultural backgrounds. In the fall of 2012, I graduated with a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at Saint Leo University, in which I learned substantial leadership skills.
