The new 2021-2022 Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Board is excited for a new school year full of learning and fun. The purpose of the PTA is to engage and support families, teachers, and supporters of our school, provide quality programs and opportunities to connect, and to advocate for the education of every child at Mildred Helms Elementary School.
If you haven't already joined the PTA, please know the support through your membership is important to our school to help us bring quality events and programs for all MHES kids and to qualify the school for grants and awards. Please don't hesitate to contact your Board if you have questions about joining. Opportunities to volunteer from home are also available as volunteers are not permitted on campus at this time.

Reflections Art Program Deadline is October 13
The Reflections Student Art Contest is back this year with a new theme of "I will change the world by..." This program features various categories for students of all ages to participate in, including visual arts, photography, literature, music composition, dance choreography, and film production. Submissions will be judged at the school level first, and if selected, at the County level against other students from other schools, and then State level. MHES Receives Awards
The PTA Board is proud to announce the that MHES has been designated as a School of Excellence for the 2020-2021 School Year by the National PTA in recognition of the long-term partnership between the PTA and school to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being for all students. Honorees receive automatic consideration for the top honors, the Phoebe Apperson Hearst Award and a $2,000 grant for the school.
MHES PTA also received the Pinellas County Council PTA Blue Ribbon Award for the Masked Reader program. Congratulations to all who assisted with these programs.

- Grandparents Night At Home, RSVP by Fri. Sept. 17th. Forms have already been sent home with the students for this event. This free, fun take-home jigsaw puzzle activity is in celebration of Grandparents Day, which is celebrated the first Sunday after Labor Day. Don't have grandparents? We invite you to RSVP for a puzzle for your child anyway and we hope you can enjoy the puzzle together. Email email@example.com for any questions.
