Azalea MS Academy of Engineering is a project-based learning experience.  Students will work together in teams on each project while fulfilling different roles.  At the conclusion to each project, groups will present their work to the class.  This type of approach to learning fosters leadership skills, project management skills, communication, professionalism, and accountability.  All of these skills are highly valued in today's workplace environments.  Through completing the various group projects, students will also learn many practical skills including: software, skills with hand tools, soldering, chemical reactions, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, modeling and constructing techniques, and many others.

    6th Grade

Exploration of Technology — Science impacts the technology of yesterday, today, and the future.  In this unit, students apply the concepts of physics, chemistry, and nanotechnology to activities and projects, including making ice cream, cleaning up an oil spill, and discovering the properties of nanomaterials.

Exploration of Electronics — In this unit, students examine the parts of an atom, the periodic table, where electricity comes from, and the types of electricity, as well as the impact of electricity on society and the world.  They learn skills in basic circuitry design, including digital circuits, and use what they know to build and solder their own circuits from scratch!

    7th Grade

Flight and Space — The exciting world of aerospace comes alive through Flight and Space.  Students begin by learning the history and diversity surrounding the major accomplishments in aerospace technology dating back to the time of Leonardo da Vinci.  Students then explore the science behind aeronautics and space flight.  Along the way, students create and fly their own kites, hot air balloons, gliders, and rockets.

    8th Grade

Exploration of Technical Design — Students discover the design process and develop a practical understanding of technical drawing, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), 3D printing, and rapid prototyping.  They are then challenged and empowered to use and apply what they've learned to create business and manufacturing models to innovate the future of our world!

Exploration of Robotics — Students learn about the mechanisms and electronics that automate modern systems.  Through exploring their creativity in robot design, students develop and understanding of mechanics, coding, and automation.
