BOCA CIEGA HIGH SCHOOL
CENTER FOR WELLNESS AND MEDICAL PROFESSIONS (CWMP) 2025-26
Principal: Jennifer Gil
Assistant Principal: Danielle Spurgeon
Students in the Center for Wellness and Medical Professions program (CWMP) at Boca Ciega High School are expected to maintain the highest standard of academic and personal integrity. This Honor Code is intended to clearly communicate the expectations of membership in the CWMP Program. Violation of the Code will be handled in accordance with the discipline policy of Boca Ciega High School since infractions compromise the integrity of the school and the CWMP program. Violations will also result in disciplinary or academic probation and ultimately may cause a student to be removed from the program.
MALPRACTICE
Malpractice is defined as “behavior that results in, or may result in, the candidate or any other candidate gaining an unfair advantage…” and includes:
- Plagiarism – the representation of the ideas or work of another person as the candidate’s own
- Collusion – the supporting of malpractice by another candidate, as allowing one’s work to be copied or submitted for another
- Duplication of work – the presentation of the same work for different assignments
- Other – includes
- taking unauthorized materials into an exam, test, quiz or other assessment situation
- engaging in misconduct during an exam, test, quiz or any other assignment
- falsifying any records
- copying, paraphrasing, reusing or submitting another’s work without acknowledging the source, including information from the internet
- receiving or giving of any unauthorized assistance on any form of academic work
The CWMP faculty is opposed to malpractice and cheating for several reasons.
- Cheating does not level the playing field. Cheating may result in a student receiving the same or a better grade than students who have honestly earned the grade. Such dishonesty could result in the cheater’s grade point average and class rank to be unfairly inflated and thus negatively affecting other students’ class rank.
- Cheating misrepresents to parents, colleges and teachers a student’s mastery of the subject.
- The time taken to monitor students for cheating causes a reduction in the time a teacher has to use for academic instruction.
- Students who are mature enough to select and qualify for the CWMP program should also be mature and committed enough to work for and accept the grades they earn.
Students who have questions regarding whether or not something constitutes plagiarism have a responsibility to consult with the teacher prior to submitting the work/assignment.
ACADEMICS – PROBATION IS FOR ONE FULL SEMESTER
- Maintain a minimum 2.0 unweighted grade point average during each semester of 9th grade.
- Maintain a minimum 2.3 unweighted grade point average during each semester of 10th grade.
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 unweighted grade point average during each semester of 11th and 12th grade.
ATTENDANCE – PROBATION IS FOR ONE FULL SEMESTER
- Students must attend all classes daily.
- Students must arrive promptly to each class.
- Families are strongly discouraged from taking planned vacations while classes are in session during the school year. Family vacations or other trips are not valid reasons for absences and will be marked as unexcused absences.
- A doctor’s note must be provided if a student misses more than five consecutive days of school.
BEHAVIOR- PROBATION CAN BE ESTABLISHED AT ANY TIME AND A BEHAVIOR CONTRACT THAT INCLUDES GOALS AND TIMELINES WILL BE PUT INTO PLACE.
- Students are expected to abide by the Code of Student Conduct.
- Students who receive two or more disciplinary referrals will be referred to the probationary committee.
- In addition to abiding by the Code of Student Conduct, application program students are expected to maintain model standards of dress, behavior, and character.
