PTC inducted 45 members into the Clearwater Chapter of the National Technical
Honor Society Tuesday, Oct. 1Family members and friends descended upon the Clearwater campus of Pinellas Technical College (PTC) to watch their loved ones be inducted into the Clearwater Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

Another perk of being an NTHS member is the access to scholarships. Each year, the organization awards more than $225,000 in scholarships, helping members of the alumni continue their educations and secure better jobs with higher salaries.

Dr. Radiah Dent-PalmerNTHS Advisor Brenda Frazier has been on the job for five years helping students achieve academic success.
"It's given me an opportunity to get to know students throughout the campus, and I really want to see students get rewarded for academic excellence," said Frazier, who is also the medical administrative specialist program instructor on the Clearwater campus.
To give back to the community and cultivate leadership qualities, Frazier ensures that her charges participate in community service projects such as Be a Santa to a Seniors, food drives, and Pennies for Foster Kids.

Each candle signifies an attribute that a NTHS inductee should have:
knowledge, skill, honesty, service, responsibility, scholarship,
citizenship, and leadership.A change jar is placed by the cash register in the cafeteria, and any monies collected go toward toiletry items for foster children. Once a foster mom, Frazier knows the challenges the children face when they are removed from a home.
"When kids come out of the homes, their possessions are thrown into a black paper bag," she said.
With the money collected, her NTHS students buy toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo, and other items and deliver them to those in need.
