Odyssey of the Mind
About: Odyssey of the Mind is an international, creative problem-solving program that provides opportunities for students to apply their creativity to solve a variety of problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literacy classics. Emphasis is placed on teaching students that great minds don't necessarily think alike - and often march to different drummers; that there are no "right" answers; that creative solutions come from teamwork, cooperation, and risk-taking. The question about knowledge can and should be FUN!

PMAC
We are excited to offer a FREE Before-School club at Elisa Nelson called PMAC. (PMAC) is a multicultural student leadership program designed to empower students to have a positive, sustainable impact on the culture and climate of their schools and communities.
PMAC at Elisa Nelson will be held Monthly on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:15am. The club will be held in Mrs. Koehler's classroom and the club is limited to 18 students.
The multicultural committee members represent a balance of students by gender and grade level, and representing a cross section of the racial, religious, and cultural backgrounds of the students at the school. The program became a school board mandate in order to ensure that students had the right to attend a school where all ethnic and cultural heritages are welcomed and respected.
Goals often include planning and promoting school wide multicultural activities to build community and address concerns such as bullying, providing curricular resources and materials to teachers, facilitating dialogue between students and staff, and reaching out to younger students.
If interested, please fill out the application no later than Wednesday, Sept 23th. Please enter information for every area on the application, especially the email section, as this will be used as the main form of communication to receive PMAC updates and opportunities. Exact meeting dates will be emailed to club members following signups. We will post this on our website!
I look forward to working with your child!
