Summer Reading List
The school district encourages summer reading as a way of building literacy skills, expanding vocabulary, and broadening student perspectives. Summer reading should be fun and engaging, and students should be given the ability to self-select books of their choosing.
Students are encouraged to read books that interest them, including fiction and non-fiction title. We suggest that families consider books from the Florida Department of Education’s grade-level reading lists. These books are wide-ranging by subject and difficulty and will challenge students to interact with books that may come up next year as part of their grade-level coursework. Any chance to read ahead for the next school year is always helpful.
