Weekly Message for the Week of 8-19-24

Good evening, Green Devil Families!

Here is your August 19th weekly update for school events and information:

*Parents, our student drop off is located on Devil’s Drive, the road that runs through the middle of our campus and is accessible off of 5th Avenue N (just past the teacher’s parking lot).

NO students should be dropped off in the front of the school, on 25th Street or in our teacher’s parking lot.  Students should also NOT be dropped off in the student parking lot.

Please note that Devil’s Drive will open each morning at 6:30AM for morning drop off and again at 1:30PM for afternoon pickup.

Our campus is open from 6:30AM-2:30PM each day.  No student should be dropped off before 6:30AM and all students (unless they are in a school sponsored event and with an adult sponsor) should be on campus after 2:30PM.

PLEASE note, our office hours are 7:00AM to 3:00PM.

*Parents, please note that the State of Florida has new laws in place that now affect all school campuses in the state.  This law requires many of our external gates and doors to always remain locked.  Additionally, many of our interior building doors that lead to the main courtyard will now be required to be locked and/or manned.  We ask that you please have this conversation with your students and encourage them to work hard to get to class on time so that they will not have issues getting into buildings.  Additionally, I would like to stress the importance of making sure your child is attending school EACH and EVERY day and that they arrive to campus on time.  Our front doors will now need to remain locked and everyone will need to be buzzed in.  When students are late this is quite an inconvenience for our front office staff.

*Applications for any 9th grade student who is interested in running for class officers are available in room 01-218.  Students can see Sra. Santiago if they have any questions.  Applications are due back on August 23rd.

Additional notes for this week:

*Please consider joining our PTSA (Parent, Teacher Student Association).  They work hard to support our school, teachers, staff and students.  Please use this link to access the PTSA page of our website and join!  Cost is $15 for parents and $5 for students!  https://www.pcsb.org/domain/5100

*All students are eligible for FREE breakfast and FREE lunch each and every day.  We do still encourage all families to fill out the free/reduced lunch application if you think you are eligible as this will qualify you for free testing waivers and additional scholarship opportunities.  Please fill out the free and reduced lunch form at:  www.myschoolapps.com

*Parents please be sure to keep your contact information updated in Focus so that you will receive all school communications.  Please take note that many of the back-to-school paperwork is online this school year.  Students will still be receiving a first day packet with all of the forms on paper this year and please note that even if you fill out forms online, there are still some forms that must be physically filled out and returned.  Students should turn these in to their 1st period teacher.  Online forms can be found at www.pcsb.org/backtoschoolforms

That is all for this week’s update.

Have a great Green Devil night!
