Weekly Message for the week of 10-16-24

Good evening, Green Devil Families!

Here is your October 16th weekly update for school events and information:

It is my sincere hope that this message finds each of our Green Devil students and their families safe and well as we begin to emerge from the challenges brought by Hurricane Milton.  First and foremost, I want to express my heartfelt sympathy to all of families who have experienced loss or hardship during this difficult time.  Whether it was damage to homes, loss of property, or the emotional toll of such an event, please know that our thoughts and support are with you.

As we welcome everyone back to school tomorrow, our priority is the well-being of our students, families and staff.  We understand that recovery will take time, and we are here to help in any way that we can.  Our school community is strong and resilient and together we will get through this.

*PSAT testing for all freshmen and sophomores has been rescheduled to Tuesday, October 22nd.  Please remind students to please bring their district issued laptops with charges to school for testing.

*PSAT testing for all juniors will be held on Thursday, October 24th.   Students will need their district issued laptops and charges for testing.

*SAT testing for all seniors will also be held on Thursday, October 24th.  Seniors will also need their district issued laptops and charges for this test as well.

*Just a reminder that the end of the 1st quarter has been extended to this Friday, October 18th.  Report cards for quarter 1 will now be available and published in Focus on October 29th.

*Boys and Girls Soccer Try outs will be held on Steward Field (at SPHS) on Wednesday, 10/16 and Thursday, 10/17 from 6-8 PM.

*NON-IB Senior parents, please save the date of Thursday, October 24th.  We will be hosting a Senior Parent Seminar Night to help inform senior parents of all of the academic graduation requirements for students.  The information shared will be for all TRADITIONAL seniors as IB students have different graduation requirements.  Senior parents will be able to work directly with administration and guidance and see exactly where their students stand in meeting the requirements for graduation.  The evening will begin promptly at 6pm.  Please park in the faculty parking lot and enter the campus from the doors that lead into the front hallway from that parking lot.  We are asking for parents to RSVP using the link provided here if you are planning to attend.  Please reach out to Mr. Bryant (bryantan@pcsb.org) with any questions.

*Many families, teachers, and staff at St. Petersburg High School are going through difficult times, and we are here to help connect those in need with those who can offer support. If you either need assistance or are in a position to provide it, please fill out the form linked below. This will allow us to collect the necessary information and ensure you and your students receive the support as quickly as possible.

We understand that time commitments may be hard to make, if you would like to donate money instead to help buy supplies (cleaning supplies, sheets, towels, toiletries, backpacks, etc.) for our SPHS students, families, or staff affected by Hurricane Helene, please do so through our GoFan Page here:   https://gofan.co/event/1736984

If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Kaur Barrett at KaurBarrettS@pcsb.org or (727)893-1842 ext. 2014.

Our office hours are 7:00AM to 3:00PM.  If you need to sign your child out early from school, please make sure to do so prior to 1:30 PM.  NO PTLs will be permitted after 1:30, students cannot be released during the last 25 minutes of the day.

*Seniors who have not yet had their senior portraits need to sign up ASAP to get those done.  The next on campus roadshow will be on November 6th, or you can book at appointment at Cady’s Tampa Studio (cady.com) for additional dates and times.  The deadline for senior photos is 12/31/24 to have them appear in the yearbook.  Please reach out to Ashlie Flanigan, our yearbook advisor with any questions Flanigana@pcsb.org
